What you don’t see is that we’re seated in the first row of bleachers directly across from the Jammer line at the LADD Dollhouse. PRIME seats. Also good for chatting up skaters during official timeouts. HA!
epic moments aren’t always big hits
I spent this last weekend attending the Chicago Banked Track Invitational. It was a last minute decision to go or not. And looking back at my google calendar I have it penciled in as the “Bank Track Torment”…. Apparently my subconscious wasn’t bought in that it was a great idea, ha!
Let me cut straight to the point. The Co-Captains of Rocky Mountain’s Fight Club asked if I would help manage their bench. I’d come as a spectator, and was now being invited to be a participant. I was floored. I’m a firm believer that games are won and lost with bench management…
oh yah. and I’ve never managed a bench before. So. The fact that RMRG trusted me in this was amazing. And the fact that it was the final bout that the Hayden sisters would skate with RMRG was also pretty epic. Of course I accepted, text bombed all of my awesome bench manager friends for tips, found myself something red to wear at a local thrift store and was ready to go (?)
I’ll overlook the loss, to the fact that the bout was a close battle the whole time. Lead changes back and forth through out. My kind of bout :-) And the fact that some how we kept all our skaters through till the 4th quarter. HUGE and epic. I couldn’t imagine a better way to break into bench management.
What a great weekend.
being part of a good team
one of the many reasons why my team is so great.
because they realize that after a weekend away watching wftda championships that i’d be lacking a chance for a real work out.
not an hour after i was off my flight back from denver i get a text invite to join in on a personal trainer work out. i will not refuse such an offer.
